Prof. Dr. Waldmann is an expert in general and visceral surgery, with further specialisation in the areas of of endocrine, oncology and vascular surgery.

In 2008 Prof. Dr. Waldmann was appointed Senior Physician at the Department of Visceral, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery University of Marburg. He obtained further international recognition as part of a research fellowship at the Cancer Research Center of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville (Florida, USA). His habilitation thesis concerned the molecular progression of adrenal tumors.

In 2012 he received the Theodor Billroth price of DGAV (German Society for General and Visceral Surgery).
